P-HPB-05: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration as a primary diagnostic modsality in patients with unresectable proximal biliary strictures: A large single-center study

چکیده
S18 ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND / VOLUME 6 / SUPPLEMENT 1 / AUGUST 2017 and adenocarcinoma was detected. None of the lesions had mucinous morphology. There were no periprocedural complications. Conclusion: EUS is an effective modality to detect occult primary in patients with CUPS with suspected pancreaticobiliary origin. Larger studies assessing its costeffectiveness and identifying positive predictive factors are needed before incorporating EUS in the routine diagnostic workup of these patients. EUS guided fine needle aspiration is useful in diagnostic evaluation of indeterminate proximal biliary strictures
Background and Aim: Determination of the etiology of proximal biliary strictures (PBS) still remains a challenge. Even though EUS-FNA is potentially useful, its role in diagnostic evaluation of PBS is still not established due to a lack of sufficient data. We sought to determine the performance characteristics of EUSFNA in patients with obstructive jaundice (ObJ) and PBS. Patients and Methods: ...
متن کاملEndoscopic Ultrasonography in the Evaluation of Indeterminate Biliary Strictures
Biliary strictures may be due to a variety of benign and malignant processes. Imaging with endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) often suggests the diagnosis, but is usually not definitive. EUS-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) facilitates the diagnosis of extrahepatic biliary strictures, although peritioneal metastases due to needle tract seeding may occur after EUS-FNA of cholangiocarcinoma. In ...
متن کاملBiliary strictures: diagnostic considerations and approach
Biliary strictures present a diagnostic challenge, especially when no etiology can be ascertained after laboratory evaluation, abdominal imaging and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) sampling. These strictures were traditionally classified as indeterminate strictures, although with advances in endoscopic techniques and better understanding of hepato-biliary pathology, more a...
متن کاملEndoscopic ultrasound in the diagnosis of occult pancreatic head cancer.
Two consecutive female patients presented with progressive jaundice, epigastric pain and weight loss. Cross-sectional imaging with computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging did not show any mass lesions whereas magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography showed common bile duct strictures. Both patients were then referred for endosonographic evaluation. Endoscopic ultrasound showed occ...
متن کاملGastrointestinal stromal tumours of the stomach: Cytological and immunocytochemical diagnostic features of two cases diagnosed by endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration
The present study reports the diagnostic utility of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNAC) in two patients affected by gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) of the stomach. Clinically, the patients demonstrated skin pallor, melena, gastric discomfort and pain that had lasted three days or weeks. The cytological findings are discussed; these were strongly supported by ...
